"One of the mandates of the Mining Industry Holding is mastering and managing natural resources. To achieve this, qualified human resources need to be prepared. Inalum established the Indonesian Mining and Metals Industry (MMII) whose function is with leading universities and research institutions to print and developing the capabilities of mining experts in Indonesia. Cooperation with Cendrawasih University is one of them, "said Budi Sadikin.
"We hope by preparing human resources in Papua, in the future SDA can also be managed independently by Indonesian sons and daughters, especially Papuan sons and daughters," he said.
This Memorandum of Understanding aims to realize sustainable national mining, industry and energy management through cooperation in the fields of education, research and community service and development in the fields of mining, industry and energy.
"We appreciate and welcome the cooperation invitation in the mining sector. Natural resources in Papua are very rich, but human resources are limited. So we hope this cooperation can help overcome these obstacles in the future," said the Chancellor of the University of Cendrawasih Dr. Ir. Apolo Safanpo, S.T., M.T. on the sidelines of the signing of the MoU.
The scope of the memorandum of understanding between INALUM and Uncen includes the preparation of strategic policy recommendations to support sustainable mining, industry and energy management; and developing environmentally friendly mining.
At present MMII has signed a memorandum of understanding with a leading research institute from the United States, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Energy Initiatives (MITEI).
This collaboration is carried out in order to improve the development of low-carbon energy and sustainable mining technologies.
Collaboration with MITEI will help INALUM to develop mining projects that are environmentally friendly and sustainable, but low cost.
