Valverde: Guardiola remains the best
QUX.ME - Josep Guardiola failed to bring Manchester City through to the 2018/19 Champions League semifinals. Tottenham's team was defeated by away goals in a 4-4 aggregate in the quarter-finals.

City failed to qualify after only winning 4-3 at Etihad Stadium in the second leg. One crucial VAR decision at the end of the game made them have to swallow disappointment.

Even so, the coach who once brought Barcelona twice the Champions League is still the best coach. This was stated by Ernesto Valverde, who Barcelona made it through to the last four after eliminating Manchester United.

"Although eliminated in the Champions League, Guardiola is without a doubt the best coach," Valverde said, as quoted by Marca.

In the semifinals, Barcelona will face Liverpool. Meanwhile, Tottenham will fight Ajax - who has eliminated Real Madrid and Juventus.

Barcelona itself is now refocusing on La Liga, where they only need nine points from the remaining six games to become champions. Sunday (4/21) morning, they will host Real Sociedad. Valverde emphasizes the importance of victory.

Important Steps to Win the Champion

"Real Sociedad has great players," Valverde said. "But we need a victory, and that is our biggest encouragement."

"We looked at the week where we could get nine points that could make us league champions. We played for the league title and we found out."

"This match is not an ordinary match, but it can be one of the important steps towards winning."
